Human rights in the modern world

About release

The first issue of the journal "Human Rights in the Modern World" in 2026 is devoted to such topical problematic issues of human rights protection as the constitutional and legal nature of human rights, the model of the legal status of the individual in Russia, the peculiarities of the implementation of legal mechanisms for the protection of human rights in the countries of the European Union, on the example of Germany and France.

In particular, in the article, Doctor of Law, Professor L.Yu. Grudtsyna justifies, that, despite the common membership of both countries in a single European legal space and their inclusion in the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union, the European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms, the practice of the Court of Justice of the European Union and the European Court of Human Rights, the Germanic and French models of human rights protection retain different constitutional logic. For Germany, the central importance of human dignity, the doctrine of the immediate obligation of fundamental rights and intensive constitutional control over surveillance measures, restrictions on religious freedom and social standards in relation to vulnerable groups are decisive.

The article by Doctor of Law, Professor O.N. Bulakov explores the constitutional and legal foundations of the implementation of human rights in the Russian Federation. It is substantiated that the modern model of the legal status of a person in Russia is based on the axiological priority of a person, his rights and freedoms, the direct effect of constitutional norms, the connectedness of public authority with rights and freedoms, as well as on the presence of an extensive system of institutional and procedural guarantees.
